Art Deco

Art deco is thought to be a diverse form of Modern decoration with eclectic influences coming from the primal arts of Aztec Mexico, Africa, and Egypt, in addition to the powerful images of the hi-tech age like radios and skyscrapers. The Arts & Crafts ideal stressed simplicity, natural materials like wood and brass, and a return to individual craftsmanship-as opposed to the newly dominant methods of mass production. Being true to this movement, it was generally considered that only wood or stone was acceptable for floors. Indigenous woods in America were used, oak or maple, most commonly. Design elements of arts & crafts include:  The use outdoor influences inside, simple pieces that reflect quality and function over intricacy, bringing in  life and color to the space with handcrafted art. Designer’s Secret- A great way to feature furnishings in a space is through emphasis, like focus, lighting placement or shape. Asian

Asian design is easily achieved by using calm and serene color palette  For a general, Asian style, you can’t go wrong with a dark wood flooring if your looking for a Japanese style start with bamboo flooring. Keep furniture sparse and low profile and use large pillows for comfortable floor seating. Don’t be afraid to mix and match Asian decorating styles for a personal look.

Coastal 

Get this look by using natural elements in your home such as rope, driftwood and found treasures by the sea. Bring the beach home with a soft color, try using iridescent tiles that will sparkle in the sun in the kitchen. Elements that lend a hand at creating the perfect coastal decor include the right mix of tranquil colors, playful accents and organic textures.

Contemporary

Comfortable and welcoming, a contemporary style uses current styles, simplicity, subtle sophistication, texture and clean lines help to define contemporary style decorating. Neutrals, black, and white are the main colors in contemporary style interiors. Floors in a contemporary style home should be bare and smooth in wood, tile, or vinyl. French Country

The most common French colors combinations are blue with yellow and red with yellow. Black is always a popular accent with the French color scheme.  Floors will mostly be natural wood, stone, or tile.  Within French style you will see decorative hand painting added to pieces of furniture. Adding decorative flowers, French roosters, and flowing vines will help you archive a French Country style.

Mediterranean

Mid Century Modern

Think durable functionality with a space-age flair, minimalist attributes of clean, simple lines and neutral, monochromatic color tones.  Stay away from overcrowding or overdoing a space. Less is best when it comes to Mid-Century modern design. Mix clean simple lines of vintage or retro furniture with hardwood floors and patterned area rugs. The marriage of Mid-Century with modern design magically happens when you blend vintage with state-of-the-art furniture, accessories and art work.

Modern

Modern style is a clean, streamlined look that is achieved by buy the use of color, finishes and artwork. Colors that work for a modern style are neutrals with pops of color.  Sleek, smooth and polished are words to describe surfaces in a modern interior. Concrete, granite and creative use of hardwoods are used for flooring; chrome and stainless steel are common accents on furniture and in the kitchen. A lacquered finish on kitchen cabinetry is common to create a modern look.  Art and accessories in a modern interior are extremely important, use shapes or simple forms to create a statement.
