Who We Are: Brandy…

When I was a senior at Marshall High School I   wandered down to the Career Center and      answered an add for a part time employee at     The Carpet Place.(Area Floors)
I worked weekends and after school for  minimum wage!
4 years later I was presented with an  opportunity of a lifetime, when the owner  asked me if I would be interested in buying  the company some day.
He began mentoring me in 1988 and taught  me everything he knew about the business.    We opened the Tigard  store in 1997, and  eventually sold me the business in 2003.

Throughout the years we added hardwood, tile, stone, vinyl, cork, linoleum, ceramic, and laminate.  It became clear we were outgrowing our 40 year old name, The Carpet Place,  and in 2008 we rebranded the company and introduced a very well accepted, Area Floors.

Shaw Industries, Anso Nylon, and Mannington Floors are considered to be our most supportive Industry partners today.  Both are industry leaders in terms of innovation & design and they continue to launch award winning product lines.  One of my favorite products is Anso’s Couture Sea Scroll.  I have this in my master bedroom and it is the first thing I sink my toes into when I get out of bed in the morning.
